TOK Interview

Lmisscutie: Tell us about your new album

Craig T: We just finish a new album it is called Unknown Language the first single was Gyal you a lead the new single is She is Hot. We also have a remix of She is Hot with a meringue tong artist Pit Bull it should be hitting Miami anytime soon the album is schedule to come out fall of 2005

Lmisscutie: Has TOK collaborated with any American Artist?

Craig T: Yes as I said before the She is Hot remix with Pit Bull and we also did a remix to Gyal You a Lead with Nina Sky. We did a track with Nokio and Scar Face before it was on the Def Jam album/Reggae Jam album. The thing about T.O.K is that we are a self sufficient group cause you know we harmonize, we sing individually, and we also deejay so really and truly there really is no need to unless there is a specific tune that represent a certain artist image vibe or vibe or what he brings to the table that we can collaborate with and make it a hotter song other than that we really don't just go out and seeking collaborations we basically do our own thing.

Lmisscutie: Has TOK been faced with any of the gay issues which have been tormenting a lot of other dancehall artists?

Craig T: Basically to be perfectly honest T.O.K. didn't really come under any pressure of that sort at all. First when we did "Chi Chi Man" three years ago there was a lot of talk but most of it was just speculations most of it was just rival groups and rival promoters of certain shows and spreading proper ganders really and truly we did not get that much of a fight. No shows cancelled, no articles nothing like that and that was a long time ago we have moved on like Alex said. You know right now it is all about the new album Unknown Language.

Lmisscutie: How do you feel about where you are in your career?

Flexx: We reach far, but realistically it is a situation we figured that we reach here still but I know we are going to reach bigger do you understand? But the stage that we have to reach we have to pass this one stage to reach there so I know definitely that we are going to be there and I know that we have something that no other group out there have, do you understand?

T.O.K is basically for the young youth who come out to enjoy life, enjoy music, and enjoy the girl you understand? It is all about doing good music and taking dancehall music to the levels to where no one has done it. You have a lot of big stars like Beenie Man and Sean Paul and others and we are just going to be one of them up there at least we are one of them you understand

Bay C: We are some of the hardest working artist in the game right now and people don't realize that we work 364 days out of the year and that is just one rest day on my birthday, we rest on one day out of the year. We are just very focus and very down to earth that is very important because that is what our fans them love about us that we just keep it on a level, yea keep it real.

Lmisscutie: What has TOK contributed to help support building back JA after the hurricane?

Alex: Well we have actually done not a lot but mostly promotions and we go on the radio stations we actually said that this is the time we are not suppose to be at war with each other offering words of encouragement you know because of the whole hurricane thing there has been a lot of robberies, a lot of crimes basically a lot of crime wave have been hitting Jamaica and you know it is always important that you play your part and making sure that people understand that it is the time that we as the people should come together and not try and pull ourselves apart that was basically it. In turns of what we did.

Lmisscutie: What do you guys do in your spare time?

Flexx: Well you see spear time is not in T.O.K. yea we don't know anything about having spear time. You see anytime we are not in the studio we are doing some sort of production or something else related to T.O.K., you understand so we are always working. A lot of time when I go home I don't really see my family and my mother always a call and say you need to stay home for at least two days and rest but you see when you sleeping someone else is working do you understand, so you have to always moving. You can't really watch certain things you have to do because you have a goal. You just have to reach that goal and we have accomplished a lot but we are still looking further and we don't reach where we really want to go yet do you understand? It is all about work right now.

Alex: My philosophy is this simply live life to the fullest, don't have any regrets and to make f#$%ing good music.

Bay-C: My philosophy is weed need to be legalized all across the world.

Craig T: My philosophy now in life is determination and confidence is the key to everything so once you have that all doors will be open to you.

Flexx: My philosophy is you can do anything you want me to do. A lot of people feel that because they come from not so how should I say it what is the word, privilege background they can't do certain things that other people can do. Do you understand but it is just about will power and just how much you really want it and from you put your mind to it anything is possible.
