Interviews Capleton, the King of Fire!
Tell
us about Capleton?
Capleton
the fiyah man, the prophet, king shango (Shango is the deity, orisha whose power
is imaged by thunder and lightning) so many different names. Born and grow a Jamaica,
grow in St. Mary. Leave St Mary and go to Kingston, visit the studios. Musically
incline from a kid. Music is my hobby.
What
is your philosophy?
Rastafari is my philosophy yea Haile Selassie
I.
Is
Rastasfari your religion?
Well it is not a religion it is a tradition.
Religion is Babylon thing; it is a tradition, a traditional thing. We must organize
and centralize and build ourselves and tell the people to hail Rastafari and love
Selassie. The people fi love highly Selassie because you have John Paul the 2nd,
Queen Elizabeth the 2nd, you have king George the 3rd, you have Constantine the
5th and you have all of these there is only one Haile Selassie the first so people
should praise him who is the man.
Tell
us about some of the contributions you've made to improve your community in JA.
Well we help schools and hospitals;
it is all about health and education.
What would you like to tell the youths of Jamaica who
want to be a part of gangs?
Well like I have always been telling
them to stay away from crime, stay away from drugs go to school and get an education.
Be educated and also re educate nuh make no body tell you that you can't make
it. Stay focus on your gold and reach out for them. There will be turmoil and
obstacles and stumbling blocks but you have to maintain a clean heart, clear conscience
and firm meditation, patience and faithfulness endurance and don't' get caught
up by the animosity from the Babylon and the system that they set up to divide
us and set us amongst each other and encouraging murder ourselves. It is up to
us to know that we must get it collective do you know what I mean?
You
have taken the word FIRE to a new height and a lot of people do not really understand
what it means and what you are burning. Please explain.
I'm burning injustice, inequalities, and
immoralities dead without dignity exploitation. If you don't burn car you can't
move, if you don't burn TV it can't work then you can't watch it people trying
to be ridiculous when the people say they burn car and money it is not a literal
term. We know car is for transport from point A to point B so why some people
a put car before humanity so you put car and money and house before your brother
and your sister? You burn them. You know money is the root of all-evil. Well if
we never have money we wouldn't have problems. We would not have any envy, no
evil, and no grudges. In the old days we use to just trade you give me bananas
I give you plantains you give me coconut I give you mango and every thing was
wonderful until money comes in… you hear.
You
did a song that states a woman give you the strength and the power, please tell
me how a woman gives you the strength and the power?
What you mean woman give me strength
I was birth from a woman womb you know what I am saying so without a woman nothing
could be procreate nothing couldn't happen you understand what I am saying therefore
we definitely a show the world say it is a man and a woman that make things happen.
Tell us about your new album?
My new album is Reign of Fire it has
20 tracks. It is 95% roots and culture with a little R&B. a little hip hop
little souls little dancehall there is one collaboration with Stephen Marley and
it is doing great so far. The reign of fire is a more matured Capleton.
What is the difference between Roots & Culture vs.
Hardcore Culture?
Well culture you have roots and culture
and you have hard core culture it nah change it is not the same thing. The difference
is a word barrier maybe people might say it is elude or profanity or derogative
but at the end of the day it still fight against morality and sodomites and against
thing that are in human nature as well.
